Rain And Mountain Snow Impact Northern California

Locally heavy rain and mountain snow will continue to impact northern California through tonight.
Periods of rain, some locally heavy, will continue to fall across northern California through tonight, leading to more flooding problems and the potential for mudslides. Additional rain totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with local amounts up to 4 inches in certain coastal locations and at the foothills of the mountains.
Flood Watches are in effect across portions of northern California until this afternoon and evening.
Periods of snow, becoming locally heavy at times, will occur in the Sierra Nevada Mountains through tonight. This will cause difficult travel and snow-covered roads. Additional snow totals of 3 to 6 inches are expected above 4,500 feet, while 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected above 5,000 feet. Locations above 6,000 feet will likely get 1 to 2 feet of snow. Some wind gusts up in the mountains could also approach 50 to 55 mph, causing snow to blow and drift.
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect across the Sierra Nevada through tonight. Winter Weather Advisories are also in place for Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties through midday today.
The next storm will likely move into the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday bringing locally heavy rain to coastal Washington and Oregon, while the Cascades will get heavy snow. This will likely lead to travel delays across this region.
